My Summer Learning Journey - Day 4

Image result for catching fireFor my second Day 4 activity I have to read the reviews of catching fire , Diary of a wimpy kid - The ugly truth and Matilda. Out of all these three books I would Choose catching fire because if I was on a long flight I could read the book then watch the movie in the plane. Catching fire is also a book that would be my type and it would be really interesting for me to read.

This is my last Summer learning journey activity for a week. My week 1 experience has been awesome and so fun I cant wait for the next week!

My Summer learning Journey - Day 4

Today I have started my day 4 Summer learning journey. The first activity is where I write about my favourite book I have read this year.

Title : RATBURGER

Author: David Williams

Description : The story follows a girl called Zoe and her mouse Armitage and the struggles they both have to deal with her stepmother Sheila who is incredibly fat and disgusting. She has had a poor life since the day her dad lost his job .After school she comes along a man who always seems to be wearing dark sunglasses and someone who sells burgers, but that's not all he also is a rat exterminator Zoe and her father go on a big adventure to solve the mystery.

My Summer Learning Journey - Day 9

Today it's day nine and I am comparing my school life compared to a German student's life. After I read their timetable I would rather go to a German school because they have subjects such as history and learning french. Their classes also end two hours quicker but they have shorter break times. They also have a block where they  do art in their everyday schedule.

This has been my second week doing the Summer Learning Journey and I haven't got bored of it at all. Can't wait for the next week!

Summer Learning journey - Day 7

Today for my summer learning journey I have posted a picture of me on my favorite amusement park ride. This is one of my favourite things to do in summer. I love to do this especially with my friends.

My Summer Learning Journey - Day 6

New Zealand is known for a lot of things one of the things they are known for are their Pavlova's. For my second day six activity I have written down a recipe on the famous pavlova.

Prep time:
15 mins
Cook time:
65 mins
Serves:
8-10
  • 6 egg whites, at room temperature
  • pinch of salt
  • 1½ cups caster sugar
  • 2 tsp cornflour
  • 1 tsp vinegar
Topping:
  • 3 punnets fresh mixed berries, eg raspberries, blueberries and hulled and halved strawberries
To make a pavlova you really need an electric beater and egg whites that are not too fresh. If they are the pavlova will weep.
Heat the oven to 180°C (not fanbake). Line a baking tray with baking paper and mark a circle about 16cm diameter with a plate. Place the egg whites into the clean bowl of an electric beater. Add the salt and beat until stiff. Slowly add the sugar with the beater running. Beat for about 10 minutes at high speed until the meringue is thick and glossy – it should be thick enough not to fall from the beater. Last of all, whisk in the cornflour and vinegar. Use a big spoon to drop dollops of meringue into the circled area of baking paper. Form into a circle of meringue, making swirls with the spoon on
the top rather than flattening to a neat tidy disc.
Bake at 180°C for 5 minutes then reduce oven temperature to 130°C and cook a further hour. Turn off oven and leave pavlova to cool in the oven.
Pavlova can be cooked a couple of days ahead and stored in an airtight container, or frozen. To serve, spoon Berry Compote over pavlova and scatter over mixed berries.

My Summer Learning Journey - Day 6

It is day six and me and curious kiwi are in Germany. Before me and curious kiwi begin our day we need to have breakfast. Here I am comparing the different breakfasts Germany has to New Zealand, and finding the Similarities.

         Germany: Cheese Platters

Cheese Platters in New Zealand

aren't common but are still eat'n.
I don't think that I would enjoy
cheese platters because I don't like
cheese but it would be great for cheese lovers.

Beans eggs and toast:
this Breakfast is commonly
eat'n in New Zealand. I think that I
would enjoy this breakfast because
I love all three of the ingredients.

Mezze Platters:

This Breakfast is not common
 in New Zealand because
it is an middle eastern tradition
it used to be an appetizer but is know
eaten at breakfast time. I  have had this before
because I am half middle eastern.

Rushing through asking people if they know how to speak English
Many people just shrugged there shoulders not know what else to say
Anxious and uncertain about the journey ahead of me
Never have I experienced such a feeling before
Yes!I finally find someone who can take me a step forward towards my dream
