The country I picked was Germany. The reason I picked Germany was because it has always been a dream of mine to go there because of their interesting cities with such amazing history stories behind them .I also would like to go to Germany because of their amazing scenic views.

Maniaklani Leader Nominations

Zeba
I believe that I would be the perfect 2016 Manaiakalani leader because I have all the talents needed. I am a confident blogger, and I am able to talk about my learning experiences in detail. My understanding of the school lets me speak confidently about it. I am proud of the Panmure Bridge school uniform and what it represents. I know that this year I wasn’t able to show my confidence but that was because I really never had the chance so I would really like next year to be the year I can show what I am capable of. I would be the type of leader that can understand people and treat them the way they want to be treated. I want to become a leader not because of title of the role, but the ability to represent Panmure Bridge School to other schools. I am someone who shows integrity, respect, excellence and the right attitude towards others and my school work. I am close to all students of Panmure Bridge School and I want to motivate them, by being enthusiastic about school activities and events.

This year I have been nominated for Maniaklani leader. I am extremely proud of the role I have been nominated for. From the start of the year I have tried to do the best can to become a leader. looking up to Yvette I know that the role of Maniaklani leader is substantial. I would love to become a Maniaklani leader, so I have written this paragraph to show it. If it doesn't turn out how I would like it , I know it's just the beginning of my learning journey and that there's a whole lot left till the end.

Maths Quick Writes - Problem Solving

What is problem solving and does it only happen in maths?
Problem solving can be used everywhere not just in maths, for example if your trying to earn pocket money, so you try to do different things such as chores. Problem solving is when you are going through the process to find a solution ( answer). Problem solving can be used in maths by writing down your strategy or explaining. When you are problem solving not always the first solution will work. You would be going through different strategies to find the right answer for your question. Overall  problem solving is used in daily life and is very useful

As part of our maths quick writes we wrote a paragraph about problem solving this activity combined both maths and writing. This helps us so that whenever we do a written test that needs us to explain our strategy and show our thinking. This task helped us in writing as we used our rubric and worked with a critical friend to help us structure a paragraph.

Choosing a new flag

Today we had a discussion about the New Zealand flag. We looked at the different flags and their meanings. To choose a flag of our choice we did a 4-3-2-1 this also had to do with oral language.

- 4 minutes to read the meanings behind each flag and to decide which flag represents New Zealand the best,

- 3 minutes to find a partner and  discuss why you chose the flag and to give some details,

- 2 change partners and tell them why you choose this flag

-1 minute to buddy up with another pair of students to get in a group of four so you can see other point of views of the other flags and just incase you would want to change your mind.

Our activity was to create a 50 word paragraph to make an informed choice. We did this so that our decision on a flag would be final and because we work better together. My choice of the 5 flags was the red white and blue silver fern. At the end of Oral language we went to the new building to vote.

People chose this flag for reasons such as: I made personal connections to it, It represents multiple cultures and also because it is instantly recognized as New Zealand's. The other 2 of the people in our group chose the first flag for reasons such as:  I liked the design and because it's easily recognized as ours due to the Silver Fern.

Dear Term 1 Me

LI: To reflect on personal goals set in term 1

Dear Term 1 me , I think we did pretty well! This year has been a blast. It’s also been like a bumpy roller coaster but that didn't stop me achieving my goals. I was able to achieve the national standards in all subjects. The head students have not been chosen yet but i’m still hoping for a chance to be manaiakalani head girl but if it doesn't go well it doesn't mean it’s the end of the world. This year I don't think I’ve come to school with a frown on my face I had all my great friends there to support me. School this year has been a lot more dramatic than I expected it to be. Mrs . Anderson and Miss. Donaldson have put in a lot of effort to teach all students everything they would need to know by the end of the year, she has been my favourite teacher of all. I have learnt so much the most I have learnt in a year before!
