Paper Planes

Today we had to analyze our measurements for our paper planes. Since we were put into groups of 6 or 7 we had to come up with one design using our plane creations. We then tested our planes and Evelyn's one was the fastest. After we had the competition. Zahn was the fastest thrower. Thomas was the winner since his plane went to furthest to 14.1. Our learning intention was to design and make a paper plane that will fly the furthest.

Since our tests were coming up our maths group has been working hard to learn as many things as possible within the time that we have. This week our group was given a problem worksheet, our Learning intention was to solve everyday multiplication problems in context. We were practising working taking out equations from word problems and solving them.

Quizzez

This is a screenshot of Quizzez. This is an educational game where anyone can participate. Our whole cass has a couple of games of quizzez as a warm up, this makes everyone exciting and everbody looks foward to maths time. Today when we played, Sajiha and I decided to partner up and we came first place. We plyed four games of quizzez, three games of times tbles and 1 of basic facts.

Maths

Today, in class during maths time, Mrs. Naicker's group were working on problem solving. Our Learning intention was to solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of decimals. To warm us up we practised our basic facts with a mix of division, multiplication, subtraction and addition. Many people in our group scored 30/30. Our group also played hit the button, we had a competition about who could get the most division questions right. After that we were sent to complete our problem solving. These are mainly about subtracting and adding decimals. I have become more confident and faster with working with decimals.

Fractions/Decimals Game

This week we were practicing our number knowledge for our IKAN test. We had to play some games which fit our level, I had to learn more about decimals and fractions. In this game, me (player 1) and Nazella (player 2) played. We had 6 questions each and if we put the incorrect answer in, our points decreased. I really improved on fractions but I think I need to practice more. 

Sumdog Results - Bicycle Race

These are my results for a game called Sum-dog. I have played a game called Bicycle race. I practiced my timetables and fractions.I won the game by 2 seconds.

Rounding decimals

This week our group is focusing on decimals and highest common factors. This game is about rounding decimals. This game was easy to answer the question but hard to get the aim! Me and Sajiha had a competition who can get the most points we were a tie!

Decimals and Place Value - Prezi

Here is a presentation I have created on Prezi independently. This is about decimals and place value and its meaning. From creating this DLO ( Digital learning object ) I have learnt lots I also watched a khan academy video that told me things that I didn't know about the connection between fractions and decimals .

My 7 Times Tables Knowledge

This google drawing is about My knowledge of the 7 times tables and different ways I can solve a 7 times table equation. The different ways I can solve my 7 times tables are by skip counting , arrays , repeated addition and in group's. 

The Grid Challenge

Today in maths we learnt how to play a game called the grid challenge . I played this maths game with Oh'Smar. This game help us practice our times tables and measurements everybody had a lot of fun playing this  . To play this game you need two dices and and a grid . 

When you roll the dice you times the two numbers you get and then you create a shape that should have the amount of squares the total you got from you two dice. You should then have an array once you have filled up as much boxes a you can than count the squares that are left out. The one with the least squares left is the winner.

At the end of the game I won by three points.

Problem Solving Revision - Maths

In maths today I found out that there are many different ways to solve one problem. The first time I worked out my strategy I went to check if my friends got the same answer. Our answers were different so we both looked over and checked our work and I noticed that I had made a mistake and once I fixed it we ended up with the same answer. During this lesson I found out that it is really important to check your maths strategies otherwise i would be giving the wrong information.

Xtra Maths Results

Here is my results for Xtra maths. I think that the reason I got  less this time is because in the middle I had gotten distracted and focused on something else. Next time I think that I will be on subtraction. I really enjoy playing extra maths because it challenges me by speeding up my basic facts.Everyone in room 5 enjoys it to.Green means that I know the answer very well , Yellow means that I answered it but wasn't fast enough , grey means I have answered it wrong and usually there is a blue hourglass for taking long to answer but this time I didn't get it.

Beat The Clock

This game was called beat the clock it helps you by answering basic facts questions faster and knowing them better. This game has level 1 - 9. Beat the clock was part of my Multiplication challenge.
